Why I’m running for Kent County Commissioner
For more than two decades, Kent County has been home for my family. Like so many of you, I’ve built a career here, raised a family here, and invested in the future of this place because I believe it’s one of the best places in Maryland to live. I love our small towns, our waterways, our quality of life, and knowing who my neighbors are.
Today, I believe we’re at an important moment in Kent County’s story.
We are fortunate to live in a community that cares deeply about its future. You can see it in the conversations happening across the County—from the strong community support for investing in a new middle school, to discussions about affordable housing, healthcare, transportation, and economic opportunity. Even when we don’t all agree on the solutions, we share something important: we all want Kent County to be a place where our children and grandchildren can thrive.
That’s why I’m running for County Commissioner.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to build businesses in this County, create jobs, lead organizations through change, and bring people together to solve complicated problems. I’ve learned that leadership isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about listening first, asking thoughtful questions, making responsible decisions, and bringing people together around practical solutions. It’s about building solid plans but also identifying new opportunities—and adapting when they come.
I believe that’s exactly what county government needs.
My vision for Kent County is simple. I want this to be a place where young families can afford to put down roots, where local businesses can grow and create good jobs, and where the next generation sees a future here instead of feeling they have to leave to find opportunity elsewhere.
That vision isn’t about government for government’s sake, or partisan politics. It’s about making everyday life a little better for the people who live here.
I want our workforce—including teachers, nurses, deputies, first responders, farmers, watermen and young professionals—to be able to find homes they can afford in the communities they serve.
I want parents to feel confident that their children are attending schools that challenge them, inspire them, and prepare them for successful futures.
I want older residents and those without reliable transportation to be able to get to a doctor’s appointment, the grocery store, or an important meeting without spending an entire day waiting for a ride.
I want entrepreneurs and existing local businesses to have the support they need to invest here, grow here, and create opportunities that keep our economy strong.
And I want us to protect the rural character, history, and quality of life that make Kent County such a special place, while recognizing that preserving our community also means preparing it for the future.
None of these challenges exist in isolation. Housing affects our schools, schools affect our workforce, transportation affects healthcare, and economic development affects every one of them. That’s why I believe we need leadership that looks at the whole picture instead of treating each issue separately.
I’m not running because I believe government has all the answers. I’m running because I believe thoughtful, collaborative leadership can help bring the right people together to find them.
If I’m fortunate enough to earn your support, I’ll bring the same approach I’ve taken throughout my career: listen carefully, commit to learning with an open mind, lead with integrity, make decisions based on facts, and never lose sight of the people those decisions affect.
Kent County has given so much to my family. Running for County Commissioner is my opportunity to give something back—and to help ensure that the same opportunities I’ve had here are available to the next generation.
I would be honored to earn your vote.
